Hear John Mertl – co-author of the groundbreaking 2009 OCETA SDTC Cleantech Growth & Go-to-Market Report – discuss the future of Ontario’s clean technology industry at the March 26th GPI Breakfast.
The impact of globalization on Ontario’s economy, along with recent economic developments, has resulted in an urgent need to re-assess the core economic strengths of the province’s industrial base. The 2009 OCETA SDTC Cleantech Growth & Go-to-Market Report analyzes Ontario’s clean technology industry and essential steps required to improve the commercial success of clean technology companies.
To become global leaders, Ontario’s clean technology companies need greater access to capital, top management talent, and increased domestic market demand for their innovations. Options identified in the Report for both policy makers and clean technology company managers, if adopted, could significantly enhance the industry’s competitiveness, create high-value jobs, and greatly contribute to Ontario’s and Canada’s future economic prosperity.
Governments are counting on the clean technology industry as an engine of economic growth and prosperity. Canadian clean technology companies face particular challenges to become globally competitive, including the availability of capital to fund growth, weak domestic demand, and a small pool of management talent experienced in growing globally competitive companies. Both companies and governments in Ontario will need to take action if the industry is to become a significant generator of jobs and contributor to the province’s prosperity.
John will discuss the results of the report with our Guelph audience.
GPI will continue to provide a discounted rate of 20$ to students and new attendees. Please select the pay at door option if you would like to take advantage of the discount.
