Open or Closed? Choosing the right software model is an increasingly difficult decision for both business and academic researchers. This half-day session will bring together representatives from proprietary and open software vendors, as well as university researchers, to discuss this critical strategic choice. Whether you’re contemplating a start-up, looking to expand your product line, or trying to share a research project with the world, this forum will offer insights into your alternatives.
The Open or Closed? Choosing the Right Software Model forum will include:
- Keynote address by Greg DeKoenigsberg, Senior Community Development Manager for Red Hat, one of the world's leading providers of Linux and open source technology
- Proprietary, Open Source or a Hybrid a panel discussion with firms using each of these strategies featuring:
- A presentation on legal and intellectual property considerations by Anthony de Fazekas of Miller Thomson LLP
- Networking breakfast starting at 8 a.m.
